William 's bio and track record

Will Thompson is a Field Investigator at Imperial College London, seconded to the World Food Programme, based in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. Here he is analysing East African farming systems to inform the design of crop-climate models that will be used as part of the WINnERS risk sharing mechanisms. In addition to this, he is participating in the design and implementation of the impact evaluation of the WFP Patient Procurement Platform and WINnERS interventions. Prior to this, Will has worked on issues of food system sustainability and value chain management for J Sainsbury PLC in their international supply base. Areas of focus included, tropical agricultural systems in Central America, food and non-food supply chains across Asia and issues of climate change in viticulture in Australia. Will also has experience in agricultural research, having worked at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden and the National Institute for Agricultural Botany, Cambridge. Will holds and MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a BSc in Biology from the University of Bristol.
