The purpose of this activity is to manipulate search rankings by advancing the first party&#8217;s high ranking or authority.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The site reputation abuse can be done in the form of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third-party pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sponsored pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advertising pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partner pages<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Site reputation abuse is also called Parasite SEO, and Google warned about releasing the update last November.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_Third-party_Hosting_Spam\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 28px;\"><strong>Is Third-party Hosting Spam?<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google doesn&#8217;t regard all third-party hosting as spam. It said, there are many websites that host advertising content intended to target their regular readers and not manipulate search rankings. This type of content is called &#8220;native advertising or advertorial.&#8221; It will not confuse the readers when they find the content through Google search or directly on the publisher&#8217;s website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some other examples from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies#scaled-content\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">help documentation on Google Core update<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; An education website hosting a page about reviews of payday loans. The page is written by a third-party who distributes this page to other websites, too with the intent to manipulate search rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; A medical site hosting a page about casinos, which is not related to the primary nature of the host site.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Not Considered as Site Reputation Abuse?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Press releases or wire service sites<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Sites that allow user-generated content.
